The term ‘First Cold Press’, refers to the fact that the oil is extracted by thermal conditions which does not alter the natural form of the oil in any way, insuring the purity of the oil, giving the result of the best quality of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Olive Oil Badawee-Hasbaya’s, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, is the oil from the ‘First Cold Press’. Only top grade, hand picked and selected green olives are used and sent to the press within 12 hours of picking which will ensure an acidity rate of less than 0.5%, it will have the highest nutritional value and a flavor that surpasses other oils, this is the oil that receives the appellation of ‘Extra Virgin Olive Oil’.

BALADI
The process used in manufacturing the oil is called ‘Baladi’, originating from the Napoli Olive.  No machineries are used, as the natural terrain of the area will not permit the machines to be used, therefore the people of Hasbaya use manual labor  to harvest their olives and prepare them ready for the press. Hasbaya’s people are known for their generosity and decency, it is said that many people like to make it a point to buy their olive oil from Hasbaya because the farmers more important aspect in their lives is their conscience, and so to be able to market their olive oil their deeds must be honest and pure.

The olive tree is an evergreen tree, and has a life span of 300 to 600 years, although it is said that there are trees in Hasbaya that are 1000 years  old if not more. The olive trees in the Mediterranean areas  produce 70 different types of oil and 98% of all the worlds olive oil production comes from the Mediterranean areas.

The Mediterranean’s first economy sprouts out of olive oil production and trade. Almost 8000 years ago, Lebanese land was cultivating olive trees, producing prime olives and processing excellent olive oil that composes a major part in our sophisticated cuisine. Olive oil is the core of essence of every Lebanese dish,  it is the glue that holds the mix together and the taste that tantalizes the taste buds.

In Lebanon, especially in Hasbaya, the olive tree has great cultural and religious values. It is said that the olive tree is  blessed and loyal tree and it  shields the good and exposes the bad. It is a tree that carries the  fruit of life and is connoted with purity and generosity.
The olive tree and olive fruit is a reflection of the cultural riches of Lebanon’s  resources.
The olive tree is a universal symbol for peace and unity.
